Default noob questions

1)I wanted to know what is my kernel version. I have Ubuntu 7. can i get that through the command prompt?
2) can i get a complete list of system calls like "kill" in the command prompt?
3) can i access my bios settings through linux??
4) I have a multimedia keyboard with certain shortcut keys. these work nicely in windows but i cant configure these special keys in linux. i have a CD for the keyboard driver but it is not for linux (or so i feel..). how can i assign shortcuts to these special keys?
I am still young at linux so i am sorry if my questions are irrelevant or plain stupid. As always all help is welcome...

Default Re: noob questions

1) execute this command: uname -r
2) type "help:" without the quotes to get the list of commands. you might also want to check ohttp://piklab.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Command-line_Utilityut Command-line Utility - Piklab Wiki
3) Not that I am aware of (correct me if I'm wrong)
4) Assign Custom Shortcut Keys on Ubuntu Linux :: the How-To Geek
This is a little tricky and may require you to write your own script for these, what model keyboard is it?
