Unhappy no wireless?

I have now maanged to get a copy of DSL and use it as a live boot disk on my moms laptop. I am getting the hang of the basic stuff, but i cant seem to get the built in wireless to work and i would really like to as i might take it to school.

Note that if it deals with any command line stuff you'll have to exlplain in detail as i am a complete noob at Linux.

DSL doesn't come with support for everything like a bigger distro would. Hense "Danm Small Linux" ... My recommendation would be to download a Ubuntu Dapper disc, and try it. You'll notice that it has a lot more features and looks lot better than DSL, as DSL is like bare minimum to get by, much like Windows 95.

Is it a "live!" disc? as the hard drive on the laptop has gone to h*ll and the thing WILL NOT boot off the hard drive so i'm left with using Linux

Or even better,

I have tried Kubuntu and it works with my Wireless Flawlessly, no problems whatsoever. you may need your password/account number to get access though

www.Kubuntu.org

Shipit (free CDs)

https://shipit.kubuntu.org/

Another good Disrto for wireless is OpenSUSE (Not live)

http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org

You might even want to check out Mephis

http://www.mepis.org/

the rest work as a live CD that you can install later if you wish

hope this Helps,

Jake
