Default NIS login problem

Hi,

I had a power outage and I am not sure this cause the problem, but I have the following complaints.
Some users are not allowed to log into certian Linux nodes with their NIS user accounts.
ypwhich show the node binding to the correct server.
ypcat passwd lists the user
su username -
reports username does not exist

Is there some file on the client that is preventing this... not all users are affected.

Thanks In Advance for any help.
