Hi
I was wondering what the workspace in linux was for?
i mean how can i use the four workspaces in linux?

i use it a lot when i'm coding website stuff pretty much.. 1 workspace for editor, 1 for ftp client and one for firefox...you can eaisly switch between them by doing ctrl-alt- arrow key. works great

No performance benefit other than enabling you to have several desktops with windows open on each one.......just switch desktops instead of opening and closing windows all the time.

For example I use fluxbox window manager or GUI and have 8 workspaces or desktops set up.I use one for bittorrents, one for ftp, one for telneting/ftp'ing into my other boxes, one for firefox, one for editors and shells, one for a filemanager, and one for xmms, and one spare.

of course its free http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/

yes, you can telnet into a windows box as long as the windows box has a telnet server running and you have the passwords

Yes, and I dont know of any freeware versions for windows.Since windows isnt a multiuser system it doesnt have any of the multiuser tools with it like linux does.
