I tried that apt sudo get-ubuntu desk top command but it said it could not find it after I put in my password. At this rate I'll retry the desk top iso at a slower speed... let's say 8x

I always burn ISO's at the slowest speed possible.

A minute or two extra burning time is a small headache to pay vs spending the time booting up and all to find that your CD has a microscopic error limiting you to functioning right.
