You want to BURN the image.

You always take an educated risk when you partition a drive, esp. if it is all in one format and used by one OS. Windows likes to eat a drive whole if it can during install.

So if you want to get a new HD just for Linux, feel free to do so. That's the way I did it, rather than rewrite the partition table on my Mac OS X/9 drive.

if i do decide to aprtition my HD, is there any type of failsafe?

Can it cause problems, or is it more like if another problem occurs, its going to be tough to reverse?

Thank you once again Mac
