Ok i need to split my drive into 2 partions get a distro and install that to dual boot with win2k can you please help me.

OK, slowly here. You are saying:

*You need a distro
*You need to dual boot

OK, so go to http://distrowatch.com and find a distro you like. Download the ISOs and burn them as images to CD. Boot off the first CD, and follow the steps. The dualboot will be set up (using GRUB or LILO) during the install partitions.

You can use partition magic to resize the partitons if needed, otherwise the installer will either take care of it for you (which I don't trust) or tell you how to.

I've heard (but cannot confirm) that at the present time, x64 builds have few advantages over i586 builds. Anyways, if you don't have an x64 proc, you shouldn't worry about this, and just get the i586 build. You will need all three install ISO images, or the one DVD install image.

What is the name of the processor? Is it a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 or something like that? If you don't know, google CPU-Z, download that and run it and it will tell you what type of processor you have.

Only two families of processors are x64 - the Athlon 64 family and the Intel x64 chip (can't remember the name right now), and anything else is considered i586.
