Default Network Card Suse 9.1

Hello all,

I have recently installed Suse 9.1 with little Linux knowledge. After I installed, I was uncapable of connecting to the internet. I soon discovered that this was because Linux wasn't detecting my network card. I have an on board network card, and if it is detecting my motherboard, shouldn't it be detecting the network card as well? I would like to fix this problem without having to buy a new card, but have no idea how to go about fixing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
