Question Need Advice! Installing Solaris

First of all i would like to wish everyone a good evening. I have a good friend that works at Sun Microsystems in Mexico. I spoke with him about a job and he said its not a problem getting me in, but I have to learn Solaris as quickly as possible. My dilema is this: i have an HP Media Center PC, and have never had success in making multiple partitions in the past, it just doesnt let me. If i buy a new hard drive, would i be successful in installing Solaris on my current pc? Or should i just put together a new pc and not even bother trying to install it on my current one? Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

Hello,

Yes it is quite easy.

How to dual-boot Vista with Linux (Vista installed first) -- the step-by-step guide with screenshots

Just use that guide. It says Vista but it will be the same with XP installed first.

Cheers,
Mak

Mak, thank you so much. I have one last problem, my pc is running xp pro media center edition 2005, so there is no option to shrink the partition in disk management. I tried using partition magic, but my os doesnt give it the permissions needed to resize. Any other software you can recommend, or is there any other way i can resize my current partition?

Hello,

Gparted might be your best answer. It is a LiveCD and you boot from it. No interference from Windows at all.

SourceForge.net: Files

Version 0.3.3 is the version i use. Might be useful to you as well.

Cheers,
Mak
