Question My Lucent Venus PnP external

I have a Lucent Venus PnP external modem and i cant get my fedora 3 distro to recognise it. If i unplug it and run linux it comes up with this thing asking if i want to keep my settings (so it somehow sees that its there). But once in linux it says probing 4 modem, modem not found. So i tried again about 4 times and on the 4th it stopped saying probing 4 modem and went straight into the connection setup screen. So i made my connection but couldnt activate it, as it said cannot connect to TPG (my connection name) with error 2. What does that mean? And also if i go into network->hardware, my ethernet card is status=ok while the modem is "generic modem", with the status being "configured". Any suggestions?

Default

Its connected to one of your com ports right?

Go back into that configuration GUI and make sure the modem device its pointed at is the serial modem, probably be /dev/ttyS0,/dev/ttyS1,/dev/ttyS2, or /dev/ttyS3 depending on which com port its on.
