I have many questions about Linux , but I'll try to be patient & only ask a couple at a time. I've tried Mandrake 9.0 & liked it a lot , but I couldn't connect to internet despite trying everything I saw in other forums. Anyway, I've since gone from MS ME to MS XP Pro. Did a full, clean install , and am looking for another distro. I saw lots of good things about Mepis, so I downloaded & burned both discs. Now the ?'s; I booted the disc, and went to demo mode. It looks great! But now, I'd like to install. Is there something I have to do to do this? Do I go to root mode? Also, my 40g HD is in 3 partitions; #1 is just XP, #3 is misc. programs, & #2 is leftover progs from ME( didn't get rid of everything). Can I put it on #2 or 3? Both have about 15g each, so should be plenty of room. I connect to SBC DSL using built in ethernet hook up on an ECS k7s5a mobo. I also have a D-Link DFE-530TX+ PCI card that I was told may help my problem. Like I said, many ?'s and sorry I got so long but I'm looking forward to the Linux experience very much. Thanks for any & all replies.
