Default Maya on Linux Cluster

My highschool has a small linux cluster running parallel programming. We will be getting Maya 7 to render images and animations on the cluster, and I am confused about how the licenses work (have had lots of trouble contacting Maya through both email and phone). How does Maya use parallel programing? more specificaly do I need a license to run on each node, or just one for the server? I am not sure if maya needs to be installed on every node either.

Any info about this or links to somewhere that has information like this would be very helpful.
