quick question, i was browsing thru another forum i frequent, and came across someone mentioning that mandrake 9.2 has a bug which some times literally destroys ur cd rom like overwriting the firmware in it and there is currently no patch or fix for this and the only way to fix it is to buy a new drive. can anyone tell me if theyve heard of this also or is this just a bunch of moron talk. the reason i ask is cuz i was goin to install mandrake 9.2 as soon as i get enough money for another HDD and dont need to worry about ruining a perfectly good cd burner.
one other thing if it is true how can there not be a patch for it. if a program can rewrite the cd-drive then surely another program can write it back the way it was before so having to buy a new cd rom sounds kinda dumb to me but thats y im here asking.
thx
