Default Mandrake 10 and Wireless PCMCIA card

I have recently dowloaded Mandrake 10 (which is very pretty if nothing else). But I have an old Compaq Presario 1700 laptop that I want it on.

Installed ok.

Here is the problem:
It recognizes the PCMCIA slot and initializes. When I insert my wireless card (WPC11 v4) I can not get a connection. I know that I am missing something and I have been reading over the net and using google.com/linux but I am not finding what I need to make this work. I am guessing that it doesn't see the card itself.

Any help appreciated.

Well, I fixed the problem.... well kinda.

The new WPC11 v4 cards use Realtek 8180 chipset. And this is a 'closed' chipset. It would have been really hard to get these two things to work together from what I hear.

So I broke out my older, more expensive ...lol... Cisco Aironet 350 wireless card. I plugged it in, I configured it and BOOM! it now works. YAY ME!

Yep, it's sorted, but that is still really good info. I have book marked it and will try it when I get home. (That is where I left my WPC11)

Thanks again.
