Unhappy mandrake 10.1 wireless

I read around and I found out I can use the original windows inf and sys files to drive my wireless chipset. I had to compile my own source for the NDISwrapper tools. I configured everything and got the system to recognize the pci bus and location of the chip. I got the ESSID in and the WEP key recognized. before all that I have already put a file with the neccessary parameters in etc/sysconfig/network-scripts as ifcg-wlan0 and gave it ONBOOT=yes. When I type IWconfig as root, it will tell me that the driver is initialized on wlan0, and that the ESSID is as assigned and the WEP key is configured. i proceed to activate the dhcp by typing DHCPCD wlan0 and it results in "program not found" so I type "ifup wlan0" it tries to get an ip lease but fails. when I reboot, during wlan0 boot process, it also fails to initialize an Ip. I am lost!! help me!

quickest way, and I really hate doing this, but goto http://www.linuxquestions.org and goto the mandrake forum and search carefully, then ask around

this is one of those specific cases where a general linux forum isnt likely to be of much use, especially with wireless, so far each of the main distro's of linux handle this a little differently
