Default mandr10 review

well. Im sure this operating system might run nicely if I could install it on my hard drive.

For the love of Saint Patrick! Fedora Core 1 Autodetects my SATA controller, and its based on kernel 2.4 (I think).

Why on earth doesnt kernel 2.6.3?

merci

horndude is on a distinguished road

Not sure what the problem is, but it isnt a distro problem, its a kernel problem.

You have to remember linux is a combo of a kernel and mostly gnu/gpl software.the various distros only vary basically in the install methods used with interface when installing. Some put files and configurations in different places, other than that they are fundamentally the same. Some compile stuff as you go along, some have the software already ready to go.With most distro's one of the first things to do post install is recompile the kernel and get rid of stuff you dont need, not mandatory, but it does speed things up.

Ive seen posts on other forums with difficulties with the new kernel and some problems with using X.org instead of XFREE86.
