Default linux wifi problem, help

ok i have a d-link di-524 wireless router, and i have ubuntu linux. now whenever i connect to my router when it does not have security enabled, it works fine, no problems. now when ever i put security on it, like a network key and stuff like that, i can not connect to it. i made sure that all the passwords and stuff is right but it still does not work. can anyone help.

Are you using WEP or WPA? Because Ubuntu doesn't support WPA right out the box, you'll need to get it https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WPAHowTo

WEP, I think 64 bit will work with Ubuntu, not to sure about 128 bit.

Things to check, make sure the SSID are type in correctly, they are case senstive, so are your key.

type iwconfig to see the wireless configuration.
