There are a couple of things to check for. First, you need probably need to configure that virtual machine to use NAT for networking. You could also give it bridged access to your network if you have a static address you want to use for your VM.
If you use NAT, then you should set your VM eth0 to use DHCP. Otherwise, assign a static address to eth0 on your VM.
