Default Linux suspend/resume

I built a digital picture frame using linux (RH9) and feh to display the pictures. It got annoying with the backlight and occasional sound so I set a cron job to put the system to suspend mode at 10 at night and I want it to wake up automatically and resume at 8 in the morning. I tried setting the BIOS to auto-turn on at this time but when I came back today, it was still off. If i press any key it comes back on and resumes the program normally.

What can I do (cron/BIOS/something) to have it turn back on at a given time?

It only has the most basic packages on it to save space and is running blackbox.
