Its cheaper, depending on your set up it tends to be more stable (although neither OS will hold up if improperly configured), there are more options available when you want to go beyond simple HTML or dynamic web sites, and so on. You may want to look at one of the BSDs, though. They tend to be more stable than Linux at the expense of the latest and greatest hardware support.

Linux is much better than windows for everything but games imo. It is pretty easy to set up and aminister in a lot of cases.

I am running apache on Red Hat 9.0 . I just checked the uptime on it and it is 312 days , that is almost 1 year with out a single reboot or system failure. In my book that sums it up.

I also run a Jabber server, and a Nagios backup server on the same box.

Linux is "more better" !!
