Default Linux, low end system

I have an old thinkpad 380xd with 32mb of ram and a pII. Is puppy linux the best os out there to put on my hdd? I have also heard of dsl, can anyone provide me with a screenshot of dsl?

actually, forget dsl, Can anyone give me a screenshot of debian linux? Will that work on my system?

Yeah, just strip it down to nothing.

I can't give you a "screenshot" of Debian, because it is designed to be whatever you want it to be. So, I can give you screenshots of the window managers you can use with it, but specifically of it.

go there, look up laptops, find yours

if I recall correctly, that laptop requires a set of small DOS apps to get it to hot swap the floppy and cdrom drive, you will lose that option with linux more than likely

you may also have sound and graphics issues

other than that, that thing will be fine running linux, just stay within its limits and choose your apps wisely

I am new to linux, so forgive me, I don't know much about all these distributions.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will consider that. Do you know anything about the other ones I mentioned above? I would like to make a decision after I know about all the other ones.

Personally I reccomend Beatrix it is a small fast effective distro, the Ultimate workers CD
