Default Linux Jobs.

Hi,
I am currently working in a company where my work is related to manual testing.I love working on Linux and want to enter to a job related to that.....I have asked number of people and according to them the demand of it is in the telecom field.
I just wanted to clarify this firstly whether this is right?

Secondly i want to know that since i will be shifting from testing domain to Linux domain afer a span of 1 year, what exactly i need to do?
Do i need to clear a certification of Linux and if i need to do that then which one should i do?
Presently i have started reading Basic Linux Programming Books and Linux Kernel details booksssss........

Please guide me regarding this problem and send replies as early as possible.........

Telecom? I would think webserving/database manager/network administrator of an OpenLDAP setup.

What is a "testing" domain?

Also, books+Linux=not a good match. Things change too quickly.
