As far as printing goes, stay away from lexmark. I'd go with HP as they are popular and have good linux support.

Ugh, Linspire makes me nauseous. I tried it once - it came with one of those cheapy $100 computers you get at Fry's for $100, and what a joke it was.

Anyways, I agree that HP has good Linux support, but before you buy a printer, TRY to check how compatible it is with LinuxPrinting.org (for instance, I have a HP printer that has no Linux support - it's too new to have its own driver yet).

Lindspire is A Huge waste of time,

try these Distros:

Kubuntu
http://www.kubuntu.org/

Mandriva
http://www.mandriva.com/community/mandrivaone

PCLinuxOS .92
http://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/metalab/dist...glish/preview/
ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/metalab/distr...glish/preview/

This is the distro I use and recommend, Why because it works right out of the box. No need to configure Everything, everything just works. It also comes as a 1 CD install that is a live CD that you can install later if you wish.

NB. Although I would wait until .94 comes out

Mephis
http://www.mepis.org/

maybe you could try Freespire, I'm not reccomending it but if you want to use Lindspire might as well be the free version: http://freespire.org/
