Default Linux desktops small enough to boot from flash drive?

Didn't know if there were any opensource linux projects that were small enough to fit on a 1gig flash drive. Thought it'd be fun to be able to boot linux on one of the schools computers. Of course, the system would also have to be bootable from the flash drive.

But anyways. Any good ones?

Knoppix will fit. It's about 700mb. Fits on a CD.

damnsmalllinux is really cool. i have a 256 mb flash drive and i have turned it into a bootable device . whats more is that it even has a GUI in that minimal space. i would really recommend dsl . however if you want more applications then i suggest knoppix! c ya!!

Slax has stolen my heart when it comes to bootable flash drive OS's.

http://www.slax.org

The install is about 200MB, then you can add modules or build your own to customize it further. Plus you can save your config so it remembers your settings the next time you boot.
