I use rh and creating graphics is no harder than on windows.

-For flash= flash mx works fine under wine.
-For photos= if you know how to use photoshop, you can figure out the gimp.

After effects, probably not. Wine is an emulator to use micorsoft programs under linux, it does work but its often a real pain to get each program set up to run.I haved mixed success with it.RH is redhat, one of the major distro companies, they sell a version of linux. They have decent support and use the rpm style of package management.I started with redhat and switched to slackware, got tired of being stuck with dependency ****.

As far as grapihics design, depends on what your doing, GIMP is great ffor editing/creating but its more like an older version of photoshop. There's some really really good software out there for working with video but its far from cheap. There's some freeware video editing stuff that works, just not as easy to use.Cinellerra for example, ive used it, but it is difficult to figure out at first.

What 'bout double-booting? It may still be worth your while to do. I'm looking at getting it set up as soon as things get where i want them.

don't know how much you're into it or if you got $5k to spend but the flat out BEST program would have to be Shake.
