Default Kernel Panic with RedHat

I have 2 hard drives. The first has WinXP Pro on it, and the other has RedHat 9 on it. I have been using my PC with WinXP for a while with no problems, I installed redHat on the second hard drive and Linux will not boot after installation. Windows will still boot fine, but linux comes up with a Kernel panic on boot. It says "Kernel Panic: Tried to kill init" Can anyone help me out with this? And I do know that the ISO disks i burned are error free, I ran the test at the begining of installation. Thank you

I installed it on an IDE/ATA drive. Both operating systems are on an IDE drive. Would some hardware be causing the panic? Graphics card, RAM, BIOS, etc? I mean, I just installed it and the very first reboot after installation, there is a kernel panic.

Is there anything I can do to test/isolate any hardware issues? Thank you

Ok thanks for the info...

Do you think I could get some directions on what to do, I am clueless when it comes to Linux, that would be great.

No boot floppy, my floppy drive is busted.
Thanks

ok, thank you. Would reinstalling linux do any good? Also, when I boot from the linux cd, it says "upgrade installation" and it gives me the option to update, or create new bootlog. I tried update bootlog but still doesn't work. Would "creating new bootlog" during linux install resolve the issue?

Thank you for your time.
