i am trying to install CentOS on my college machine. i am getting an error and installation quits after it says kernel panic- unable to mount fs something.....
what exactly is kernel panic. many of my friends are facing similar kernel panics.
also the dvd seems to be ok as i have installed on my home pc.

As for a Kernel panic it sometimes Doesn't like the Hardware for some reason, you may want to try another distro
