I boot of the Minislack 0.3 cd and it boots up to this error message:

kernal panic: attempted to kill init

Any ideas?

Its a P3-450mhz, 256mb Ram, MSI MS-6163 MOBO, AGP Grapihics (ATI RAGE 2c)

More info:

When i try to boot of a Knoppix 3.2 Disc i get the same error.
Windows seems to work fine.
The only component that could have the fault is the HDD, I remove the hdd and try booting of Knoppix, same thing.
The Ram is Brand New

probably a BIOS/firmware issue, sometimes those live cd's dont work, ive seen them do some strange things, especially on OEM stuff, like dell computers

I booted up knoppix on a relatively new dell a couple weeks ago and it went thru the strangest boot process Ive ever seen it do,but it did work.I do have one machine it wont work on though.

Other possibility is youve got a bad disc, not likely but possible, easy to find that out though, just try it in another machine

hey what version is the current one anyway,Id swear they are up to like 3.4 or something?

It may be 3.2 has a bug and wont work on some hardware?

well, 2 different versions of linux (knoppix 3.2, and minislack 0.3) both do the same thing.

they both share some common components for hardware detection,im guessing its choking on that hardware for some reason, it happens unfortunately sometimes

That ati-rage card may be a problem too, not sure, im not familiar with it all that much.Ive had cards not work that should have too like this PCI s3 card thats an OEM compaq I have sitting here, by all rights it should work, but doesnt.
