| This isn't on my computer; this is someone else's newly set up Ubuntu system. I set up ndiswrapper (this is a Broadcom based Linksys WMP11 PCI card) and it seemed to load everything fine, and iwconfig now sees wlan0. Great. The problem is, it seems not to be changing the ESSID. It remains with ESSID:"d11b" which is not what I've been trying to set it to (which it "accepts" without any output). The Access Point remains 00:00:00:00:00:00. Everything else is set as it should be, except perhaps the link quality, which is 100/100, leading me to believe it's not actually getting a signal, since I don't think it should be THAT good. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

| Fixed. ![]() For the record, what had to be done was edit the conf file in /etc/ndiswrapper/{insertdrivernamehere} so that Radiostate|1 was changed to Radiostate|0. Apparently this is a known bug in a number of specifically Linksys, and possibly a few other cards; I found this solution by Googling a bit more, somehow I missed it when I was searching last time.
