Exclamation I've Switched From Windows to Linux & I'm Having a Problem

I reciently switched from Windows to Linux and I'm having a problem with it. I installed the Mandriva distro and for some reason I can't get my sound to work. I've tried everything I can think of and I'm not having any luck. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.

Make sure ALSA is installed. If it is, run alsaconf as root. If not, find it, install it, and then run alsaconf as root.

We need more details your question cannot be answered with such bland info.

ALSA is the driver setup you want follow Macdude's advice
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi cards will not work under "any" linux at the current time

...but work is in progress, so you'll just have to suck it up for the time being, if that's the card you have.

I just go back to onboard for the time being so it's not too large of an issue though it is boring. Thats the general rule of thumb for Linux sound issues though isn't it.
