how do you install stuff on mandrake linux? i've tried to install stuff i downloaded off the internet onto linux and i have no clue how to do it, is there any website that can help me out on this?

Alright first of All I'm new at this so if I'm wrong PLEASE correct me


You will have to go into the Archive and Uncompress the package, you do this by hitting the extract button

You type cd [folder]

./configure

make

make install

Then you can run it from terminal, or the menu

what distro are you running? many distros have their own package management systems... there is no "setup.exe"

Well, if you use RPM's you can make certain programs install things for you. Similar to windows .exe stuff. However, until then...you have to use the shell command like jakec explained.
