Default Ipod On Linux

I'm trying to add a song to my ipod using my laptop that is running on Ubuntu, I located a folder in my ipod where all the songs are but that folder is marked with weird numbers and so are the songs, I tried to put a song in one of the folders but I couldn't find it.

Is there anyway I can add a song on my ipod?

Have you tried using RhythmBox? It's an excellent iTunes clone for Linux. Applications -> Sound & Video -> Rhythmbox Music Player

I believe it's compatible with most modern iPods, but in the case that it isn't, try gtkpod.

sudo apt-get install gtkpod

Hope this helps.

I don't think so. It says so on the box after all this is why I grabbed a Creative Zen simple drag and drop. Sorry man but it should be possible theoretically since a Mac is a brand of UNIX.

Nope, totally possible. Did you read my post at all?

"gtkpod is a platform independent Graphical User Interface for Apple's iPod using GTK2. It supports the first to fifth Generation including the iPod mini, iPod Photo, iPod Shuffle, iPod nano, and iPod Video.." -- http://www.gtkpod.org/about.html

And apparently Rhythmbox has supported iPods for almost 3 years now. http://slashdot.org/articles/04/03/18/037241.shtml
Note the date.

In the end, Tyler1989 is lucky he got a real MP3 player, because iTunes database and all that mumbojumbo is really really annoying. My MP3 player (Cowon A2) is compatible with any OS that supports USB Mass Storage devices.

But in short, iPod in Linux is a reality, and is quiet easy. Just as easy as using iTunes.

Or you can even run iTunes in Wine: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?appId=1347
