Default Ip Tables

I'm building a computer in a few weeks that will serve as an IPTABLE linux firewall. Would a 300mhz or 400mhz do pretty good for this purpose? I'd get something slower but i haven't snatched any slower chips up from anyplace. I've currently got 2 amd 400 and 1 amd 600 that aren't being used. I'll end up going with one of the 400 chips unless i find a 300 (or less) somewhere.

I'm currently using an SMC BARRICADE 7008ABR 8port router with NAT and built in firewall. I'm pretty happy with it and would like to keep it in use but i do want to set up a more proper Linux firewall (cause i've read they are the best).

Am i going to have problems getting the two to work together??

Any suggestions or things to keep in mind before i start puttng this to work?

Oberjaeger feel free to comment. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Good to know.

If i can find any slower processors i'll use them, as i'd rather use my 400mhz for something else.
