Default Intrepid Beta - Can't even boot to LiveCD. Error.

ASUS P5QL Pro
4gb DDR2 800 RAM
Q8200 Quad Core CPU @ 2.33ghz 775
GeForce 9600GT 512mb 256bit
Antec 650w PSU
Seagate 500gb SATA HDD
Seagate 500gb SATA HDD
WD 250gb SATA HDD
WD 250gb SATA HDD

I just burned 64 bit Intrepid Beta to a CD via k3b as a bootable CD (image). Whenever I do installs with Ubuntu, I find it easier to just unplug all of my drives except the main one I'm working with. Just makes dealing with partitions easier, especially when you're like me and have 4 hard drives with partitions on each one.

I put the CD in. Booted to it. And it said...

"kernel alive"
"kernel really alive"
"Panic: Early Exception 0e rip Error..." with a bunch of random text after it.

I'm unable to boot to this LiveCD, yet I'm aching to try Intrepid. Did I do something wrong?

Did the ISO pass the MD5Sum check? How did you download the ISO? From HTTP or Torrent?

I downloaded the ISO from their site.

I did some checking and I found this bug report, in regards to the ASUS P5QL motherboard, which is what I have.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/in...ux/+bug/263543

I just don't know how to tell what version of whatever I have on my LiveCD. They specifically noted at the end that it was fixed in 2.6.27-7.11... but I have no idea how to tell which one I am running. The Ubuntu site I DLed from didn't specify.

Yeah, the problem is fixed. Turns out it was a problem with my motherboard specifically. They updated the patched version on daily build Ubuntu, however, that's not where I got my ISO from. So I had an older non-patched version.

I'm currently running on Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 64 bit Beta, and I must say, I thoroughly enjoy it. My ASUS P5QL is now fully supported (it seems) considering the last thing that was problematic was my onboard LAN, which is now supported out of box.

With my system specifically, I can't find anything that's insanely WOW OMGOSH! about Intrepid. But I must say, it is definitely an upgrade. There are a lot of little things with it that you sit back and think, aww, isn't that neato?

I'm surprised at how stable it was. I had google earth crash on me once or twice when I hit F11 about 30 times in a row to test how well it handled going in and out of full screen. I also had an error pop up saying Gnome crashed, yet, everything seemed perfectly fine. BUT, it's in beta testing yet. Couple more days to go!

Regardless, I am floored at how stable it is, how smooth it runs, how quick the speed is, and how easily my Nvidia drivers were installed. (177). Fricken love it.
