Default Internet On Linux

I have got a copy of Ubuntu running on my laptop but yet I am finding it difficult to enable WLAN in Ubuntu. It is dual booted with Vista and in Vista I can press Fn + F1 to enable my WLAN. My laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 2735. I think that the program Launch Manager 1.4.9 by Wistron Corp. is to do with it.
Ive had similar problems trying to get internet on other distros. So ive always ended going back to vista.
