Default Installing Linux while on windows?

Can you do this? If not, do I need to burn it to a CD?

Thanks

No, you need to burn it to a CD, boot off that and run the installer.

This is correct, Use nero To do this. Nero is the best when buring .iso images

Do you mean install Linux whilst in Windows? Or be able to boot into Linux OR Windows?

If you want to run Linux while in Windows, then download and install a program called VMWare. It will let you run a 'virtual' machine inside of an already booted OS.

I just downloaded Linux and I want to put it on my laptop. however, at this time, since I dont know Linux and still need my laptop, I have to keep Windows on their at least until I become sufficient in Linux. How can I set up a dual boot? Will I possibly need a program to do that? If I do, can you hook it up with a free one? Also, I'm going to be installing Slackware 10.1, how much space does it take? How much space should I have free?

Thanks
