Default Installing Linux 7.1 after unistalling Windows95

I formatted my harddrive that had windows95 on it, now I am unable to install Linux 7.1. I am missing HIMEM.SYS file or it is corrupted and also missing EMM386. Can someone please help. I need to install Linux from a CD, but cannot read from CD drive.
