Default I Want Linux!

I know the same idea has been posted hundreds of time before but I couldn't find ANYTHING that helped me. So, let's move on shall we? I have windows xp sp1. I want to run a simple linux and xp side by side(like shut down xp then load linux), so i can work better server set ups. I am not good at this at all!! (the most i've done is reinstall xp) So I need it to be simple. Just to let you know I have like 50 cd-r's with me and a cd-rw drive (hope that might help, becuase i've seen alot of things where you have to burn an image or whatever). THX!

djg32091,

What do you want to know? To download linux?

www.linuxiso.org , they give links to all the linux versions available and their download mirrors. Mandrake, suse, fedora's are the best to start out with..

Why did you do this? I tried booting from a linux cd and it worked without having to change my boot order. Don't mess with your bios especially if you don't know what you're doing

Extracted???? . You should burn the images as provided to make 'bootable' cd's. And about creating partitions, and setting up dual boot ,check this

There are lot of linux distro's available , that can be run from a CD-ROM. No need to install them. knoppix is an eg for one of those. ..there are several flavours for the live versions too. check the site i gave you before..
