Default help with wireless networks

I have a dual boot system, using Windows XP and Fedora Core. In order to connect to my home wireless network from windows, I use a Linksys wireless adapter. This is incompatible with Linux without a third party driver. I have found a few, including Madwifi, but I'm very new to Linux and don't really understand the complex instructions to set up the drivers. I'm looking for some other way to connect. I would be willing to buy another adapter if I could find one compatible with Fedora Core. Or perhaps there is some way to make the OS recognize the adapter, or connect to the network in some other way? Any help is much appreciated, as my Linux is not half as worthwhile to me without an Internet connection.
