ok, well if it's a socket 2 then the thing is its not really a pentium machine. its an old 486sx, dx or dx2 machine that was upgraded with a first generation overdrive dx4 or overdrive pentium chip. so the first matter of business is to remove the hard drive and read the top label. if it does not list the drive geometry (cylenders/heads/sectors per track) then you will have to look up its model # online. then you can insert those values into the bios under "user defined" type - usually type 47 iirc - its been a while. then the drive should show up, assuming the jumpers are set properly on the drive.
