Default good linux to install?

anyone know where i can get a good linux program that i can download and burn to a cd with one computer, then use it to install it on another pc? a pc that doesnt have any operational OS on it at the moment?

You can do that with all distrobutions of linux. You can find what you are looking for at http://www.distrowatch.com

I prefer Ubuntu, although I have never used anything else.

thanks guys, i got my windows up and runnin now, but i'd like to set up a dual boot for linux, will it give me that option when i install it or do i need to partition my drive first?

It depends on the distro. I know that Ubuntu Dapper can resize ntfs partitions (very helpful if you have no free space). If you have free space, most any large distro will create the requird grub entries to dual boot automaticlly.
