xdm or kdm display manager?

(nevermind, i wikipedia'd them and chose KDM.)
The install looked like it worked...
Okay, so I just did the /etc/init.d/kdm/ restart thing and I got
"Stopping K display manager: kdm not running (/var/run/kdm.pid not found).
starting k display manager: kdm."

Some form of live chat would be easier :|

It sounds like you still need to do this.

Did that, got..

"Reading package lists.. done.
Building Dependency Tree...done.
E: couldn't find package x-window"

And from then on it didn;t do anything..

NVM, I'm going to do it again, I had a typo

So I did it correctly, and I get

"Reading package lists.. done.
Building Dependency Tree...done.
x-window-system is already at the newest version
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 4 not upgraded."

Check this site out:

https://shipit.ubuntu.com/

This is a service created by the Ubuntu community to give out free copies of the latest Ubuntu version (including free shipping); great for those of us that don't have broadband. Also, if you want to play around with another distribution, here's another site that send cds of Fedora Linux for free:

http://www.pogolinux.com/systems/linuxcd.html

Hope it helps...
