Default Getting GRUB Back...

My dad installed Windows 2003 the other day on his box, and it overwrote GRUB for SuSE 9.1. Does anyone know of a way to get it back, short of reinstalling?

You should be able to go onto the emergency disk thing and reinstall it.

should be able to use just about any install or linux boot disk and enter the linux partition to mount at the boot prompt, then after Suse is booted up, reinstall it.......not sure if the Suse install disk will let you do this though, some boot up w/o a prompt at all------->thats bad mojo

IIRC SuSE is one of those. I'll see if I can't find my Slackware or Knoppix CDs...

you should boot your system into some rescue mode (I think using suse cd #1) which gives you a console. now use this command to reinstall grub:
grub-install
if not successful see its man page. It will help you.
