Default Geting Linux on other HDD

Ok I thinking to get linux on computer I plan to build pretty soon. I will put it on extra HDD, while mian one will have Windows.

Which one should I get.. and where can I download it?

It really depends on how much you know about Linux already and what you are willing to learn and do.

For new users Mandriva 10 would be a sure bet for something a little easier to use. SuSE is an option, I have just always had problems with them. They did however release a new version (10.0) and I have heard it's pretty good.

All of the hardware configuration and whatnot in SuSE can be done in Graphical interfaces while the much more stable distro's such as Slackware 10.2 are done through text and you will need a little more knowledge of Linux to use them.

Do you know enough of the CLi to edit X11 and deal with installations in it rather than using RPM's?

If so , I would highly recommend getting Slackware 10.2.
