Exclamation huh?

source code MAKES the sources when compiled.... then sources are made in a shell or whatever. I need the original code, so that I can modify it in a compiler. (C, CPP, watever)

Source code is compiled into object code, which is linked into programs.

well which do you want?If you want gentoo's scripts then download that, if you want the source files that it uses, then download those.....im confused, whats the problem?

If you want a basic toolchain like gentoo starts with either build one or use theirs or anyone else's for that matter

I'm also a bit confused. What do you need Gentoo sources for? Just use the emerge tool that makes Gentoo so stinking amazing!

all gentoo is,is a set of scripts that builds a toolchain from current GPL sources and then builds a system on top of that-------->stage 1

stage 2 starts you out with a toolchain

stage 3 gives you a tool chain and most of the rest of the system

Get the source for Portage, and you've essentially got Gentoo's source . Maybe add in the Gentoo-modified kernel. Almost everything else on a Gentoo system isn't Gentoo specific.
