One more for the list. I started out with Mandrake, hence the nick, but having tried Debian I've switched full time. It may not be as easy to get installed but I just love the whole approach Debian takes. The quality of the packages, the logical approach to creating a whole distribution, the sheer number of packages, it has more of a feeling that people have thought about it as a whole rather than just a collection of parts.
The two big complaints you hear made about Debian are the slow rate of stable releases and difficulty of installation, and there is at least some truth to both. Installation will be improved with the next release by a new installer, which among other things includes hardware detection for the first time. ISO images using the new installer are available (no url handy), but in any case there are other ways to get Debian installed. Morphix and Knoppix (and a bunch of others) are based on Debian, and as well as being very nice live CD distros can be used to install to a hard drive using hardware detection. As for slow releases, I've been using unstable for a while now without problems and it is very up to date, KDE 3.2.1 is there and it hasn't even been announced by KDE yet
In short, hmmmm, already too late for that I guess, Debian is well worth a look, though for real newbies something like Morphix is an easier way to get it installed.
