First of all, if you still have the ISO image that you burned to CD, you might want to dump the MD5SUM and make sure it matches what is provided by the Fedora Core people.

Use this utility to check: etree.org | md5sum.exe

i agree, i recall during one of my experiences with Fedora (FC4 i think) receiving similar messages that turned out to be a result of a scratched and dirty disc. hence it could be a corrupt ISO or a faulty/damaged disc. i think the Fedora disc should have an option to check the MD5 sum against the disc before install.

I no longer trust that test - it's let me go by with using bad discs that I later manually tested and were shown as bad.

here is what I did, I've tried to download the cd edition, and burned it into 6 discs then i install, using the same check, the first disc and the 5th and 6th disc is bad so I reburn it then it's still bad... then I download the dvd version, and burn it to a lower speed then try to install it right away, so i don't think scratch on the surface should be possible, unleast the download itself is bad... if the checksum when I install is not good, is there any other way I can check it? since I'm in windows, the default checksum file in the site won't work under dos. thanks in advance.
