Uncommented DRI and OpenGL, tried it again. It still crashes X when I try to play a DVD.
So I tried it in VLC. It plays, but there's no sound, and "Hogan's Heroes" looks more like the Apple II BSOD than Hogan's Heroes...
Any more ideas?

Use vesa drivers or generic X ones. ATi drivers for Linux are the worst crapola on the face fo the planet.
