I know someone must have explained this 6 million times by now.. but Once I find a good 2.6 kernel distro w/ gnome, I will attempt to dual boot windows 2k pro and the new os.

HOW, ON MY SATA< Do I DUAL BOOT 2K and THE NEW DISTRO???

also, has anything changed, such as the boot loader since the 2.4 kernel? I'm wondering if dual booting will be different.

I'm not shure, but i think that Windows would only let you do one or the outher. But if the 2.6 kernel distro w/ gnome is a computer,(or an external HD,) you can boot with networking. With this cool feature that ask's you which OS you want to run first, and on which computer.

huh? i need 2 run 2k and the linux distro on da same comp, on the same hdd...

well you would need 2 partitions, one for each OS, I would install WinBlows first because somw of winBlows "Habits" then I would install the other OS some Bootloaders are automatically set up sometimes you have to manualy set them up.

you may want to check if the distro has support for SATA before attempting an install, I had a friend who had some problems with that

make sure you install grub on the first boot sector and not on the mbr. installing it on the mbr will result in a lot of problems you don't want. once installed you will need to install grub on the boot partition and then you will need to copy the .bin file ovewr to windows and then boot windows and edit the boot.ini file (hidden file you will need to unhide in cmd prompt) this method worked for 2.4 kernal but i am yet to try it with FC2 2.6 kernal......i will let u know how i go
