Default Dual boot with 95?

I'm running Linux Ubuntu currently and want to put a copy of First Edition Windows 95 on as well, as a second OS (just to be used to run old games like ROTT and Doom etc).

I need to repartition the drive and then reformat the new partition...but how do I do this without destroying my Linux installation?

Scandalous,

Well, if you want to install windows 95 over a linux , then your grub/lilo linux boot laoder will be destroyed. I think you need linux boot floppy to fix the Master Boot Record. I would recommend installing windows first ,and then linux for safety.

But if you can't go ahead and install windows 95 first and then linux , then you need to do a MBR restore after the windows installation.

Before installing, you have to create partitions [fat ...and does 95 support fat32? ] . http://archive.ubuntulinux.org/ubunt...en/apas05.html
Above is a link to partition using ubuntu.

Otherwise, you can connect your HDD as slave to some other system and use PM or any other partition magic to create windows partitions.

ROTT! AWSOME! I totaly forgot about that game. The missle launcher that fires 4-6 missles at a time ownes... *cough* sorry bout that its like looking back onto part of my childhood. Anyways listen to intercodes hes a really smart guy and knows his sh1t. However something you might want to look into is dos emulation, I mean if you have linux already installed why goto all the trouble of splitting a partition and installing 95 when playing doom 1/rott/privateer (awsome game) on your linux box would be cooler. check freshmeat or sourceforge for program names. Im kinda thinking about doing it tonight. Hope that helps.

Install Windows 98. It is just as DOS friendly as Windows 95, and it does support things like FAT32 and such. The first version of Windows 95 only supported FAT16 and 36GB hard drives at the max.
